Privacy Policy

NeetZen · Last updated 4 August 2026

NeetZen is a study app for students preparing for NEET (UG). This policy explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how you can get rid of it. It describes what the app actually does — not what it might do one day.

The short version. You can use NeetZen without giving us your email or phone number. We store what you study and how you answer questions, because that is how the app knows what to help you with. We send your questions and photos to OpenAI to generate explanations. We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising.

Who we are

NeetZen is operated from India. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].

Accounts without sign-up

When you first open NeetZen an anonymous account is created automatically. It is tied to your device, not to your identity. You may later add an email address and password so your progress can be restored — that is optional, and until you do it we hold no way of identifying you personally.

What we collect

What you tell us during onboarding The name you choose to be called, whether you are in Class 11, Class 12 or a repeat year, your target NEET year, your preferred language, and how you are preparing (coaching, self-study or online). The name can be anything — it does not have to be your real one.
What you do in the app Which chapters and topics you open, how far you got, which questions you answered, which option you chose, whether it was right, your test scores and timings, and which topics are due for revision.
Your conversations with Zen The messages you send and the replies you receive, including any photo you send for help with a question.
Account details, only if you add them Email address and an encrypted password, used solely to restore your progress.
Your profile picture, if you set one Stored on your device only. It is not uploaded to our servers.

We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history outside the app, or advertising identifiers. We do not use tracking cookies. The app contains no advertising.

Why we collect it

We do not profile you for advertising, and we do not make automated decisions that carry legal consequences.

Who else processes your data

SupabaseHosts our database and authentication. Your account and study data are stored there.
OpenAIGenerates Zen's explanations. Your message text, and any photo you send, are transmitted to OpenAI to produce a reply. Do not send photographs containing information you would not want processed by a third party.
ExpoDelivers the app and app updates.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

How long we keep it

Study progress and answer history are kept while your account exists, because their value is in the long run — a chapter you struggled with in August still matters in April. If you delete your account, we delete this data.

Anonymous accounts live on your device. If you uninstall the app or reset your device without adding an email address, that account and its data become permanently unreachable — by you and by us.

Your choices

Write to [email protected] for any of these.

Students under 18

Many NEET aspirants are under 18. If you are, please use NeetZen with a parent or guardian's knowledge and permission. If you are a parent or guardian and want your child's data removed, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.

We ask for as little as possible: no phone number, no address, no school, no photograph requirement, and no real name.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is restricted so that one student's data cannot be read by another. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise; if a breach affects you, we will tell you.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be notified in the app.
